Manchester United are hoping to sign highly-rated Ajax winger Antony, as they continue their search for their first summer addition.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News , the 22-year-old Brazilian is on manager Erik ten Hag's radar this summer, with the Dutchman keen to strengthen his attacking options. United are desperate to draft in a new right-sided winger and Antony is a player they have identified as a solution to their right-wing troubles.

He excelled in the Netherlands last season, scoring 12 goals and grabbing ten assists in 32 appearances in all competitions. Included in that tally, he racked up six direct goal contributions in just seven Champions League appearances.

Equipped with blistering pace and a wand of a left-foot, Antony is also blessed with silky skills and excellent ball-control. And it is his skills and quick, dancing feet that make him such a joy to watch.

At times, he has been criticised for going too far with his trickery, but the Brazilian has shrugged off the criticism in the past, highlighting that he plans to show his opponent who the "boss" is. If he completes a move to United, you can almost guarantee that he would be a crowd-pleaser that the supporters would instantly warm to.

"There will always be people who think the tricks are really cool and people who disapprove of them," Antony told De Telegraaf. "I think my actions are functional, because I want to show the opponent that I'm the boss. And often it results in a goal or an assist.

"So I don't really care what others think. Regardless of the praise or the criticism, I keep my focus."

Since joining Ajax from Sao Paulo in 2020, the Brazilian has gone from strength-to-strength, scoring 22 goals and racking up 20 assists in 78 appearances in all competitions. Not turning 23 until next February also means that United would be securing his signature well before he gets anywhere close to reaching his ceiling.
